Work in Progress

2023-2025

Building on the foundation of Image as Field, Field as Volume explores the digital mass of virtually reconstructed spaces. Drawing inspiration from Neural Radiance Field (NeRF) technology—which enables the generation of three-dimensional environments from arrays of two-dimensional images—the artistic method engages image layering, AI-assisted tools, and projection techniques to reimagine Caribbean vignettes in bold, bacchanalian colour-ways.

These digital landscapes are informed by nature—particularly dense forests and lush tropical gardens—that are abstracted into immersive, synthetic terrains. Through a fusion of generative media and manipulated image data, the work in progress aims to animate colour palettes, pixelate virtual surfaces for texture, and chart speculative topographies within the virtual terrain. The media output would be further developed as a series of “windows” looking out into otherworldly scenes. The intention is to invite the the viewer into a Caribbean realm where the real is not replicated, but reconstructed into the surreal—a place where memory, media, and landscape collapse into a new aesthetic logic.
